As a viewer of your evening news programs and a concerned citizen, I ask that you begin covering the LIBOR banking scandal. The manipulation of LIBOR, a critical interest rate and the primary benchmark for interest rates around the globe, affects more than 800 trillion dollars of financial instruments and everything from mortgages to credit cards. It deserves much more media attention, and the complete absence of such coverage on your evening news programs is extremely alarming.

Jubilee USA, the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility and the JPIC Ministry of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate sent letters urging you to immediately cover the LIBOR scandal on August 6 — a story that has gone unreported for three months. Three months since the scandal began and over one month since the letter, they still have not received a response and the issue is still not being reported. As a viewer of your news programs, I am concerned about the absence of coverage of one of the largest banking scandals of our time and its impact on average Americans and people around the world, with particular concern for the poor and most vulnerable. This issue needs to be reported on so that action can be taken.
