Sign the Petition for PVC-Free School Supplies!

We need your help to get PVC, the poison plastic, out of our children’s school supplies!

Many children’s school supplies, such as lunchboxes, backpacks and binders, are often made out of PVC—a toxic plastic that is dangerous to our health and the environment. PVC is unique among plastics because it contains dangerous chemical additives. These harmful chemicals include phthalates, lead, cadmium, and/or organotins, which can be toxic to your child’s health. What’s worse is the danger these chemicals pose- phthalates and other toxic additives can leach out or evaporate into the air over time posing unnecessary dangers to children.  Over 90% of all phthalates are used to soften or plasticize PVC products – that’s over 5 million tons a year!  Children are at risk from even small exposures to these toxic chemicals.

Safer products are available.  Join us in demanding safer PVC-free school supplies for our children.

Sign the petition below, and then forward it to your friends and family.

After we gather enough signatures, we'll deliver the petition to major retailers and manufacturers of PVC school supplies.

1943 December 03, 2009 Melanie Lundeen Denver, CO it's shameful and almost criminal that CEO's of these manufacturing companies would sell out the health and safety of our children. it has been known for years that these chemicals are toxic, but they are still turning a deaf ear to the facts, just to make a buck.
1942 November 28, 2009 Avelina Cardenas Houston, TX There is no excuse to continue the use of a material that is toxic to our children's health. If previous generations were ignorant of the dangers, that is a tragedy.. but it would be an even greater tragedy (and a crime in my eyes) to be fully educated on the adverse effects of exposure to pvc, dioxins, phthalates and continue to poison consumers of all ages.
