S.B. 2936 makes citizen nutritional practices illegal without a license and limits consumer freedom of access to nutrition services and information!
S.B. 2936 would extend Illinois's monopolistic Dietitian and Nutrition Services law, one of the most restrictive monopolistic Dietitian laws in the U.S., until 2023.
S.B. 2936 would unconstitutionally limit our freedom of speech and our freedom of choice in practitioners of natural health because the bill limits herbalists, naturopaths, and nutritional consultants, and others who talk about food and herbs in their businesses.
S.B. 2936 would perpetuate oppressive penalties for unlicensed practice of $5,000 for each offense while offensively decreasing and jeopardizing consumer options in natural health care.
S.B. 2936 needs the health freedom exemption amendment that says that persons are exempt from violations if they are a person: "who furnishes nutrition information, provides recommendations, counseling or advice concerning nutrition, or markets food, food materials or dietary supplements and provides nutrition information, recommendations or advice related to that marketing, if the person does not represent that he or she is a licensed dietitian nutritionist. While performing acts described in this paragraph, a person shall be deemed not to be engaged in the practice of dietetics or the providing of nutrition services".
