Pharma Pollution

America’s waters are becoming increasingly contaminated by chemicals from pharmaceuticals and personal care products.  There is currently no coherent government effort to address this threat.

I support PEER’s campaign to counter the growing spread of pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) in our water supplies, including steps to 1) prevent the introduction of these chemicals into our water systems; 2) fill the regulatory vacuum such that enforceable standards can be employed to reduce the presence of previously unregulated chemicals in vital water supplies; and 3) marshal and foster additional research, especially monitoring for the presence of these chemicals in our waters.
