Movies, Meetings and Hikes

Dear Supporter,

Drift, a flyfishing movie
Hike the Snowcrest Range
Public Meeting in Livingston on oil and gas near Montana's rivers

Hike: The Snowcrest Mountains have been recommended as wilderness in the new Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest plan. Join us as we explore the scenic alpine mountains and rolling grasslands that characterize this remote range. Thursday will be an 8-mile hike along the Divide Creek trail. Visit our website for more information, or to register.

Public meeting to discuss oil and gas drilling along Montana's rivers: You've probably read about the recent oil and gas lease sales along the Yellowstone and Boulder Rivers in Park and Sweet Grass counties. If you're concerned about how this activity might impact fisheries, water quality, recreation and private property rights, we encourage you to attend a public meeting hosted by the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, Montana Trout Unlimited and the Joe Brooks Chapter of Trout Unlimited. The meeting will take place Thursday, Sept. 11, from 4-6 p.m. at the Best Western Yellowstone Inn at 1515 West Park Street in Livingston.

The meeting will feature presentations by Hal Harper from the office of Gov. Brian Schweitzer; Larry Peterson from the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife & Parks; Mary Sexton, director of the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation; and a representative from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. There will be ample time for questions from the public after these presentations.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP by email to Scott Bosse or call (406) 556-2823.
