Montana leads the way among the Northern Rockies states in its conservation-oriented wolf plan. |
With wolves off the Endangered Species list (at least for now), state wildlife agencies are moving forward with plans for wolf hunting seasons. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) is taking public comment on their proposed quota for regulated hunting of wolves.
The good news is that Fish, Wildlife and Parks has proposed a conservative quota for this first hunting season on wolves. Wolf advocates need to speak up now to ensure Montana continues to lead the way among the three Greater Yellowstone states and implements this balanced, science-based approach to wolf management. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is taking comments on its proposal until July 18, 2008.
