Dear Supporter,
The Bridger-Teton Forest is proposing to construct yet another wildlife disease factory—an elk feedlot—and wants to continue to permit six others! These disease-ridden feedlots must be phased out and the elk allowed to be healthy and wild!
From the southern Wind River Range, through the Upper Green River, the Snake River Canyon and the Gros Ventre Valley, elk have been held on artificial feedlots during winter for decades. This is why they have brucellosis and other diseases. This unnatural method of managing elk is practiced only here—nowhere else! Montana and Idaho disdain the practice. The Bridger-Teton Forest has an opportunity to break this cycle- BEFORE Chronic Wasting Disease arrives and wreaks havoc on our elk herds. Instead of opening new elk feedlots—which is what they propose—they need to carefully phase out the existing feedlots while protecting the livestock and hunting industries.
