Gas drillers are asking the BLM for relaxations of winter drilling regulations in critical mule deer habitat. Comment to the BLM today! |
Wyoming's Green River Basin is a place where world-class wildlife resources overlap vast reserves of natural gas. Bounded by the Wind River, Gros Ventre and Wyoming ranges, the Upper Green River Basin harbors crucial winter range for some of the largest concentrations of big game in the West. Over 100,000 mule deer, pronghorn, moose and elk congregate here every winter to survive on the sagebrush steppes and mesas. This area is now famous for the longest overland wildlife migration corridor in the Lower 48, used by pronghorn that travel up to 160 miles between Grand Teton National Park and winter range far south in the Little Colorado Desert.
And there are trillions of cubic feet of natural gas under it all. The BLM is ready to approve the final plan [news] for the Pinedale Anticline Gas Field. Laid out in a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS), this plan will pave the way for 4,399 new gas wells, countless miles of roads, and industrial facilities in the biological heart of the southern Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
Tell the BLM No!
