Dams, dams, and more dams. The Bear River in southeastern Idaho is already one of the most dammed and diverted rivers in the western United States, however, there is yet another dam in the works.
The Bear's long history of dams and diversions has left much of the river severally degraded and no longer able to support native Bonneville cutthroat trout. Now, the last healthy and free-flowing river section is in the crosshairs. A new proposed dam would submerge one of the true natural gems on the southern end of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is responsible for permitting this new proposed dam and needs to hear from you! Please take a few minutes to express your opposition to this poorly conceived project and let FERC know that the last thing the Bear River needs is another dam! Destroying fish and wildlife habitat and eliminating public access to a blue ribbon trout fishery is NOT what we want for the Bear River.
