During the 2009 special session, the state Senate Rules Committee will vote to reject or uphold the nomination of CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission) Commissioner Rachelle Chong. Commissioner Chong's decisions have exposed Californians to skyrocketing prices, unfair billing practices, and discriminatory pricing. Commissioner Chong rejects public input and failed to keep her commitment to the Senate to protect consumers and stop telecom marketing abuses. Commissioner Chong's decisions over the past three years have benefited telecommunications companies and hurt consumers. Send a letter to the Senate Rules Committee and your state senator and demand that they reject the nomination of Rachelle Chong. Rather than permit her to intensify her deregulation agenda from this position, the Senate must insist that the governor bring balance to the Commission by appointing a consumer champion who pledges to fulfill the CPUC mission to “serve the public interest by protecting consumers and ensuring the provision of safe, reliable utility service at reasonable rates.” |
