Peace,

There is only one week left to apply for our annual Direct Action Tactics Summit, May 6-11th, in Sonoma, California! The Tactics Summit is a 5-day camp that develops participants' climbing, blockades, creative visuals and overall action coordination skills. It's filling up fast, so lock in your spot now!  Apply at www.ruckus.org/tacticssummit. Participant applications deadline is April 4th, 2008.   Please contact Celeste Faison, Outreach Director, at celeste@ruckus.org if you have any questions.

See below for a full description:

The Tactics Summit is an opportunity for social justice, environmental
justice, and human rights organizers to build concrete skills in using
Direct Action tactics to win victories in their campaigns. The gathering
will bring together over forty attendees from diverse communities and issue areas.

Participants will gain:
•    Concrete skills in one of three direct action tactics (climbing, blockades, creative visuals), in addition to general action planning and coordination skills
•    Experience using their new skills in various role-play scenarios
•    An understanding of the role of direct action in making social change
•    Confidence in the use of nonviolent direct action in their own campaigns
•    The opportunity to network with people who are using direct action as a tactic in other issue areas and communities
•    Clear understanding of the structure of The Ruckus Society direct action network, and how they can become a part of it

Full participation is expected.  In true Ruckus tradition, we will be camping, though limited indoor sleeping space is available.  The kitchen will provide delicious, healthy, primarily vegetarian food from local farms and stores.  A meat option will be served once a day.

General Cost:
The cost of attending the Tactics Summit is a sliding scale donation between $200 and $500.  We have work trade opportunities for folks who want to supplement their financial contribution. Limited scholarships are available pending funding/sponsoring groups.
