NO to the Military Coup! Demand the Unconditional Reinstatement of Honduran President Zelaya
A military coup, led by graduates of the School of the Americas, has taken place in Honduras. On Sunday, June 28, members of the Honduran military surrounded the presidential palace and forced the democratically elected president, Manuel Zelaya, into custody.
While Latin American governments, the OAS and the European Union immediately spoke out in support of President Zelaya and against the coup plotters, the first statements from the United States fell short of calling for the reinstatement of Zelaya as the legitimate president. It is up to us to pressure the U.S. government to take action in support of democracy.
