At least not when it comes to chocolate!
It's never too early to start making Halloween plans, so this October join Global Exchange, Equal Exchange, and Green Halloween to celebrate Fair Trade Month and Fair Trade your Halloween.
Each day this October we’ll provide you with ideas to take action to promote Fair Trade in your community, including fall and Halloween baking tips, movie screening toolkits, Halloween costume swaps, and links to resources to learn more and share with your friends leading up to Halloween. More details will be announced in September. Stay tuned to FairTradeHalloween.org for more.
Halloween is one of the biggest holidays for chocolate sales in the U.S. Did you know that most mainstream chocolate comes from cacao plantations in West Africa, where forced child labor has been documented? To learn more, get a copy of The Dark Side of Chocolate, a shocking documentary about the continued allegations of the trafficking of children and child labor in the international chocolate industry.
This year there is a real alternative.
We’re thrilled to announce that Equal Exchange is selling organic milk chocolate minis and organic dark chocolate minis in bulk, so this Halloween you can support farmers, children and pass out delicious chocolate to trick-or-treaters.
Equal Exchange chocolates are sourced directly from small farmer co-ops, and they're perfect for your Halloween festivities. Show the big chocolate companies that you won't tolerate that kind of exploitation by choosing a Fair Trade alternative. Equal Exchange will be taking orders starting October 1st.
Looking forward to working with you to Fair Trade your Halloween!
