School’s out for the summer! Some of you have graduated and are starting the next phase of your lives and all of you have spent a fair amount of time thinking about peace and how to represent it in poetry, prose, photography and the visual arts.
The winners of this year’s What About Peace contest continue to have their work displayed on the web site to inspire others to think deeply about what peace means in 2012. Be sure to share it with your friends.
With the generous support of the Jadetree Three Foundation and the incredible energy of teachers around the country, the What About Peace? contest will continue in 2013.
The application will be ready to download on September 15th and all the other deadlines remain the same:
Entry deadline is February 15, 2013
Winners announced on April 22nd, 2013
In the meantime we’ll be looking into some new ideas for increasing the power of peace.
We will also be creating a set of note-cards from some of our favorite images – great gifts and fundraising items for your school club!
Our Reality Tours often visit schools in areas of conflict and we will be sharing the What About Peace? sentiment and artwork with young people around the world in order to grow a global youth movement for peace.
As our grand prize winner this year, Amanda McKenna of California so aptly put it: Peace It’s in Our Hands.
Have a great summer!
Keep in touch and be the peace you want to see.
