Spring has been a time to cultivate new partnerships and watch campaigns grow. We are halfway through 2012 and we are gearing up for an exciting summer.
Together we have made exciting gains in our campaigns.
Our Democracy is NOT for Sale!

Just in time for the November election, the Elect Democracy campaign targets Wall Street's dangerous takeover of our own democracy. As global citizens, and as US voters, we MUST get big banks out of elections. It's time to show the 1% what democracy really looks like. Join us for #DeclareIndependence on July 4th.
Rights of Nature at Rio

In June, Global Exchange's Shannon Biggs traveled to Brazil for the Rio+20 Earth Summit and unveiled our new report Rights of Nature: Planting Seeds of Real Change, which explores in depth ways in which Rights of Nature can be applied as a legal tool for protecting the planet.
Detroit from the Ground Up
The Green Economy Leadership Training Program kicked off in early June in Detroit's Highland Park. The first week found the 20 participants working on the GELT garden, rebuilding a tire-dragon playground, visiting local urban farms, beginning their permaculture trainings, and more.
Caravan for Peace with Justice and Dignity
Mexican poet and peace activist, Javier Sicilia toured the United States speaking in several cities about why we need to build an international movement to end the drug war. Sicilia's visit was the first step in mobilizing communities on the ground for this summer's upcoming Peace Caravan that will cross the U.S. from San Diego to DC.
Killing by Remote Control
Drone strikes are wreaking havoc from Pakistan to Gaza with little outcry from the citizens living in the "democracies" that are dropping the missiles. Pick up Medea Benjamin's latest book Drone Warfare: Killing by Remote Control and learn how drones are being used to assassinate people around the world, and how they are coming to your local police department.
World Fair Trade Day
For World Fair Trade Day, the San Francisco Fair Trade store received a visit from Lata-ji, Fair Trade artisan organizer from India. Read about her work with rural communities in Rajasthan.
Most Wanted Corporations, BDS, and Looking Beyond the Label
Read up on other campaign updates at our People-to-People blog like the release of the 2012 Most Wanted Corporate Criminals list, news about faith communities making commitments around Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions, and lessons from the Fair Trade Federation Conference on building better Fair Trade businesses.
Everything we do is made possible through the continued dedication of the worldwide Global Exchange community. We thank you for all your support as a member of Global Exchange. Not a member yet? Join today!
