Every March, nations around the world take a moment to reflect and honor women for International Women's Day. The day reminds us to bear homage to women who have made a difference in their communities; women that have struggled and resisted discrimination and injustice; women that have succeeded in the face of immense social, political, and economic odds.
At Reality Tours, learn of the struggles and achievements of women on all of our trips. Each Reality Tour brings to light the advancements, obstacles, and struggles of women from diverse sectors of society, and participants learn how women envision and live social change.
- Since 1991, we’ve explored how Cuban women have been in the forefront of the movement for sustainable development.
- Since 1997, the centerpiece of the annual August tour in South Africa has been their Women’s Day. Reality Tour participants have examined post-apartheid inclusion of women in government, in the workforce, and as leaders in communities; and have been inspired but their ingenuity and models of grassroots organization.
- Since 2002, we have honored the transformational work of grassroots organizations and women first-hand in Afghanistan.
- Since 2008, with our partner organization Not For Sale we have organized anti-human trafficking advocacy delegations to Cambodia, Peru, Thailand and Uganda that expose the devastation of the commodification and exploitation of women and girls.
As we celebrate the achievements of women, let us acknowledge the love that inspires us to organize, educate and sacrifice for our children, community, nation and planet!
Travel with Reality Tours in 2012 and join us to honor women around the world.
Until next time,
