Global Exchange is going to #OccupyWallStreet!
Shannon Biggs, Community Rights Program Director, has been invited to speak at two events surrounding Occupy Wall Street next week along with Ben Price from the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund.
Occupy Wall Street, and the growing movement around the world (over 1000 cities and counting!) shows very clearly that the current system is not working. People everywhere are rising up and demanding their voices be heard.
We believe the community rights organizing framework can point the Occupy Movement towards a path of achieving deep, systemic change by elevating the rights of people and nature over corporate rights. Essentially, the struggle rests on the question of who should have the ultimate deciding power – corporations or citizens?
I think you and I both know the answer. Please help us join in the conversation in New York City.
We’re calling on supporters like you to help us raise $500 to support the cost of travel and ongoing costs of our program. Any amount helps, whether you can give $5, $50, or $500. Click here to get started.
Rather than settling for the current system, we must rewrite the very rules under which our system operates – using new forms of activism to shift the conversation to rights; by changing law and culture to subordinate corporations to democratic decision-making by the people.
You can help make the change. Please give today.
Best wishes,

Shannon Biggs
