To focus on a philosophy of peace, a free community festival, PEACE IN THE PARK, will be held Saturday, September 12th from noon to 6:00 pm at Civic Center Park/Foote Lagoon. The theme is peace in our world and the many expressions, networks and commitments needed to create the changes that will bring about a more peaceful world. PEACE IN THE PARK, INC. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization formed to produce an annual peace festival. The Thompson School District is a sponsor of the event and school peace projects will be showcased. Children will parade their hand made flags of the world and ask for world peace. Festival goers can participate in Dances of Universal Peace, and many other interactive activities to focus on the need to make peace an everyday priority in our lives. Local groups will illustrate, demonstrate and discuss peacemaking in their organizations. Music, games, art, food and balloons will add to the festival atmosphere.

Colorado, San Juan Skyway Loop: Colorado Peace Ride

4-day 230 mile bicycle ride for peace along the beautiful San Juan Skyway Loop beginning and ending in Durango with overnights in Ouray, Telluride and Dolores. This ride will raise awareness for non-profit peaceworkers and provide them with scholarship funds for rest and rejuvenation opportunities at the Sophia Peace Center.
