Israel to Give You $19.19 on Tax Day
April 1, 2010
Sorry, Supporter--we just couldn't resist pulling your leg a little bit on April Fools' Day! Of course, the opposite is true: It's you as an individual tax payer who will be giving Israel an average of $19.19 when you file your taxes this year.
This screen shot from last week's episode of The Simpsons shows that pop culture is catching on to our campaign to challenge military aid to Israel. Help us to continue building the momentum by making your tax-deductible contribution to "offset" your taxes to Israel.
The United States will then take your hard-earned tax dollars to provide Israel with U.S. weapons, totaling $3 billion in this year's budget. Israel will in turn misuse these weapons in violation of U.S. and international law to colonize Palestinian land, maintain its illegal military occupation of Palestinian territory, and commit human rights abuses and war crimes against Palestinians.
This year, we're giving you an opportunity to make a statement that you--Supporter --don't want your taxes supporting Israeli occupation and apartheid. Make a tax-deductible contribution to the US Campaign in increments of $19.19 to "offset" the tax contributions of you and others to U.S. military aid to Israel. The more tax-deductible money you donate to us this year, the less money you'll owe Uncle Sam on future tax returns.
||For each $19.19 that you "offset", we'll gladly send you one of these stickers (to the left) for you to proudly display. For example, "offset" the tax contributions toward military aid to Israel for ten people, and we'll send you ten stickers. There's no limit to the amount of stickers we'll send you, so please make the most generous contribution you can right now by clicking here.
Not only will your donation "offset" your contribution to Israeli occupation and apartheid; it will also directly fund our educational and organizing efforts to challenge U.S. military aid to Israel this Tax Day and beyond.
For example, we're encouraging all of our supporters to take action on or near Tax Day. You can set up spring recess meetings with your Members of Congress and ask them to hold Israel accountable for its misuse of U.S. weapons. You can also organize a Tax Day action at your local post office or hold a Tax Day house party to educate your friends and neighbors. Get more Tax Day ideas and sign up for an organizing packet filled with postcards to the President, petitions to Congress, fact sheets, flyers, and more by clicking here.
If you'd like your organizing packet to arrive in time for Tax Day events you are planning, you must order it by Wednesday, April 7 (we'll still send you an organizing packet after that deadline, we just can't be sure you'll get it before April 15). So don't delay-sign up to receive your Tax Day organizing packet to challenge military aid to Israel by clicking here.
Speaking of Tax Day actions, since we're located in Washington, DC, we figured we'd organize a Tax Day protest at the headquarters of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). If you're in the DC area and would like to help us plan our Tax Day protest, we'll have an organizing meeting at our office in the evening on Wednesday, April 7. RSVP for the meeting and get logistical details by clicking here.
PS: Don't forget to check out new website http://www.aidtoisrael.org to learn more about how much money your community provides in military aid to Israel and what that money could be used for instead.
PPS: If you'd like to make a donation by credit card over the phone, please call us at 202-332-0994. You can also send us a check to: US Campaign, PO Box 21539, Washington, DC 20009.
Thank you for your generous support and for taking the opportunity to "offset" your taxes to Israeli occupation and apartheid.
