As a constituent, I am writing to add my voice to the call from many others (lawmakers and citizens) for an end to regulatory restrictions on travel and remittances to Cuba for all Americans. Lifting these restrictions will help alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Cuba caused by the recent hurricanes. I encourage you to add your voice as well, by contacting the White House with a call to end restrictions. The damage to homes, infrastructure and crops across the island is severe. The potential for human suffering is great. Now is not the time to fall back on worn-out policies and political responses. The Administration should allow Cuban Americans to help their relatives recover from the storms and all Americans to respond as they are able. This is an opportunity for our nation to show compassion without politics.
