Urge Senators to support Kerry-Boxer climate bill

July 30, 2010 Subject: Support Kerry-Boxer climate bill Dear Senator, Today we are facing a planetary Flood of biblical proportions – the climate crisis that is scorching into drought many parts of our planet, threatens many others with flooded coastlines, and is forcing diseases like malaria into wider zones of the earth. All of us need to act to protect both earth and human societies. I urge you to work hard in the next weeks for passage of the Kerry-Boxer bill in the Senate and then a final agreement with the House for strong action on what is really our generation's most important issue. I especially urge you to be vigilant in defending EPA's ability to regulate carbon emissions; charging carbon emitters the real cost of what they do; using such funds that come in to help those of low, moderate, and middle income meet any increased energy costs; strengthening subsidies for wind and solar energy while ending subsidies to coal and oil; making sure that workers hurt by these changes get retrained and transitioned to green jobs; and helping poor nations meet the emergencies the climate crisis is bringing on them. If possible emphasize not only support for Kerry-Boxer but the specifics mentioned in the letter.  Ask them to let you know what the Senator is doing.
