Warlord Thomas Lubanga Dyilo is being tried at the world's first international war crimes tribunal for enlisting children as soldiers in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Two videos produced by WITNESS Program Coordinator Bukeni Waruzi served as evidence to help persuade the ICC to prioritize the issue. Watch the videos and read updates from The Hague.
Current Campaigns
Destruction and Displacement
During the early morning hours of Saturday, January 24th, bulldozers descended upon a Cambodian village, forcing people from their homes and devastating the lives of 150 families. The Hub blog details the eviction, and WITNESS partner LICADHO, along with others, captured powerful footage. This is just one of a series of forced evictions in Cambodia.
New video surfaces in the Oscar Grant case, suggesting another officer may have also been involved in his death. Watch the video on our blog or help spread the word about this tragic killing by forwarding one of the videos captured by eye witnesses.
TAKE ACTION
Thank you to everyone who has signed our petition to help end slavery in rural Brazil. This is a very important moment in the campaign, and we're doing all we can to spread the word.
Obama Orders Guantanamo to Close
With this very positive step forward, we look back at a film produced in partnership with 14 NGOs telling the personal stories of two men who were detained and tortured in the name of the "war on terror." Watch excerpts from "Outlawed."
