Protecting Vaccine ExemptionsProtect our Vaccine Exemptions! CDC is routinely advising fewer and fewer exemptions. While CDC advisory information from its Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) is not legally binding in and of itself, it is used by states, employers, schools and other organizations to make mandatory vaccinations a requirement for those under their control. For example, NY State set up a mandate making vaccination with all vaccines advised by the ACIP mandatory for health professionals and others. ACIP no longer protects pregnant women and other vulnerable populations through vaccine exemptions. This action item allows you to send a message to your Federal representatives and to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and its supervisors in the FDA and Health and Human Services Department. The message is that you want the CDC to protect vaccine exemptions. Too often in recent months with the proliferation of vaccine mandates, the three traditional excuses for avoiding vaccines -- reasons of health, reasons of conscience or reasons of religion -- have been ignored or limited by the public health authorities. We believe that vaccination, if it is to be consistent with our values and liberty must always be voluntary. |
