Dear Friends and Family,
I've heard hazing is rough...but they want me to jump into the bay! Can you believe it?
On my first day as the new CCAN Virginia Campus Organizer I filled out paperwork (normal), worked on my campaign plan (seems right), attended a staff meeting (so cool), and was reminded that on January 10th the staff will be jumping into the Chesapeake Bay together to raise money and awareness for our continued fight against global warming (WHAT?)
What did I sign up for here?
Well, I signed up for one of the most amazing jobs ever, thats what. I signed up to work with a grassroots non-profit dedicated to fighting global warming in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
CCAN is an organization that empowers students to take action on campuses and in communities to call for energy efficiency, green jobs, and clean energy.
CCAN brings community members together to put pressure on elected officials and campaign for tough, anti-global warming legislation.
CCAN is an organization whose members believe in a cause and stop at nothing to achieve goals of a clean energy future in the Mid-Atlantic, and beyond.
And CCAN is working tirelessly to raise funds so we can continue organizing. In the midst of an economic crisis I know that fundraising is difficult. But don't think of this as a donation, think of a pledge to my plunge as an investment. A renewed energy economy will restore our environment and create millions of green jobs! Global warming is an issue that is more systemic than we thought: it has economic, social justice, and economic ties, and your donation can help us continue to win the fight for healthy air and green jobs for all.
Please donate today, and come out on January 10th (and bring me a blanket!!)
Peace,
Hilary Coleen
