Prevent Climate Displacement

In just 40 years, as many as 200 million people worldwide could be displaced by natural disasters and climate change. As we witnessed with the recent devastating floods in Pakistan, the world’s poorest and most crisis-prone countries will be hardest hit.

The consequences of ignoring climate change are too costly.

Take action now and tell President Obama to invest more in preventing displacement from natural disasters in climate vulnerable countries worldwide.

Dear President Obama,

In just 40 years, as many as 200 million people worldwide could be displaced by natural disasters and climate change. As we witnessed with the recent devastating floods in Pakistan, the world’s poorest and most crisis-prone countries will be hardest hit.

The consequences of ignoring climate change are too costly.

I strongly urge you to invest more in disaster preparedness and response. Working with the Secretary of State and relevant federal agencies, the U.S. must develop strategies and policies to protect the increasing number of people worldwide who are being displaced by natural disasters and climate change.

Sincerely,

President Barack Obama
