Volunteer with the Peace Table!

We have a unique opportunity to make peace issues highly visible as hundreds of thousands of people gather in Washington, DC under the umbrella of One Nation Working Together. Our plan is outlined below.

Your help is needed to make this plan come to life. Sign up today to be part of the hundreds of people who will carry posters, distribute leaflets and make the presence of the peace community a strong reality on October 2nd.

Join us as we distribute posters, stickers and leaflets with these messages:

  1. Jobs, Peace, Justice
  2. Bring Our Troops and War Dollars Home
  3. Funds Jobs, Not War
  4. End War, Rebuild America
  5. End the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan Now! - Bring Our War Money Home

Peace Table volunteers should check in at the UFPJ table in the ONWT literature table area. This is in Zone 6 North, and it is close to the corner of 17th St. and Constitution Ave., NW. There will be signs directing people to Zone 6 North/Event Tables.
- we would like as many volunteers as possible to check in between 8:30 and 9 am
- people coming later should also check in at this location
- at the check in volunteers will get materials to distribute and a specific location to work in
- if people are planning on going to the feeder march we also urge them to check in here to get materials to distribute there as well
- volunteers who will be distributing materials at the Metro stops will NOT check in here but will instead go right to their assigned stops

Poster Distribution

The heart of our plan is a massive poster presence at the Lincoln Memorial. We need at least 200 people to meet us at 9 am near the Lincoln Memorial to pick up posters and get assigned to specific highly visible locations around the area. Our plan also includes teams of people distributing posters at the Metro stops closest to the Lincoln Memorial. We want to catch people as they are getting off the Metro and heading to the rally site. In addition, if we have enough volunteers, we will have people distributing posters at the bus parking locations, before people get onto the Metro trains.

Leaflet and Sticker Distribution

In addition to our posters, we are preparing a leaflet that explains the connections between the issues of the 10.2.10 mobilization and the struggle for peace. We’ll also have a sticker to give to people with the slogan Jobs Not War. The teams that are organized for the poster distribution will have some of these materials, but we also need volunteers who will just focus on getting out the leaflet and the sticker.

Peace Feeder March

As the poster, leaflet and sticker distribution plan is being put into place, other people from the peace movement will be gathering at 10:30 am at 14th Street and Constitution for a Peace Feeder March to the Lincoln Memorial. We’ll have a lead banner for this march that says:

Money for Jobs, Not for Wars! Bring the Troops Home Now!

We’ll also have our posters, leaflets and stickers so we’ll need some help at this site as well.

We need at least 300 volunteers to make this a success! Please sign up today!

Thank you for signing up to volunteer!
