Take action to stop junk mail!

Junk mailers are filling up our mailboxes with the paper waste that we don't want, never asked for, and can't stop. We know that junk mail isn't just annoying: it invades our privacy, wastes our time, and destroys our Endangered Forests. So far, over 100,000 people have joined the campaign to stop junk mail. Will you let these notorious junk mailers know why? Tell American Express, Bank of America, Capital One, Gieco, Discover, and Chase to keep their junk!

Like most Americans, I support initiatives that allow consumers to opt-out of receiving credit card solicitations and insurance offers from companies like yours. More than 100,000 people like me have joined the Do Not Mail campaign to establish solutions to our growing concern about the privacy violations and environmental damage caused by unwanted mail.

I urge you to work with ForestEthics to assess risk, develop new paper and mailing policies and practices, and strengthen your brand.

Many of your competitors in the direct mail industry are moving forward. I challenge you to do the same by:

* reducing overall paper use, including the amount of paper waste coming into my home,
* guaranteeing my individual choice and control over my personal identity and sensitive information,
* maximizing use of environmentally-responsible paper, including high percentages of post-consumer recycled content (i.e. a measly 10% recycled doesn't cut it),
* avoiding greenwash by discontinuing any use of phony eco-labels like the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI).

Sincerely,
