Tell Enbridge CEO Patrick Daniel: Keep BC Tar Sands Free

Last year, Enbridge CEO Patrick Daniel told us that Enbridge
does not want "to be involved with a project that is opposed and of concern to others." Apparently he's not listening.

This is an important time to act. The company has yet to formally file their environmental assessment application with the government, and a letter from you right now could make a big difference. By putting enough pressure on Enbridge now, we could stop the project before it even begins.

Watch this short animation that illustrates the clear opposition from First Nations to the proposed 1,170 km pipeline route, and then send a letter to Patrick Daniel to voice your opposition.

Dear Mr. Patrick Daniel,

You recently stated that your company does not want to build a project that is opposed and of concern to others. I am writing to express my opposition to your proposed Northern Gateway Pipeline.

There is a popular online video that shows clear First Nations opposition. With this opposition from some of the communities that would be most affected by the proposed Northern Gateway Pipelines in mind, you cannot in good conscience proceed with the proposed Northern Gateway Pipeline.

While First Nations opposition is an indicator of the lack of public support for these Tar Sands pipelines, there are several reasons for concern, including that they would:

* Cause a massive expansion in greenhouse gas emissions;
    * Put over one-thousand streams and rivers at risk of oil spills, including some of our richest wild salmon-bearing watersheds;
    * End a moratorium on super tanker traffic on the coast of BC and the Great Bear Rainforest.

I stand with First Nations and other citizens in opposition to your project. Rather than build pipelines, I urge your company to invest further in clean, renewable energy. You can help move us toward the green energy future the British Columbians, our planet, need.
