TB 117 Comments

California is proposing to change TB 117, the fire safety law that has resulted in manufacturers pumping our furniture full of toxic flame retardants linked to a long list of health problems.
Instead of requiring flame-proof foam on the inside, the new version of the law requires smolder-proof fabric on the outside. Most house fires are the result of smoldering (where there is smoke but no flame) from sources like cigarettes as opposed to open flames. If the outer fabric on the furniture can resist the smoldering of a cigarette, fire safety can be achieved without the use of these toxic chemicals.
Please send an email today to Governor Brown letting him know you support these changes to the law for better fire safety without toxic chemicals!
