Stop the Industry's Dangerous Cosmetics Bill!
We need your help to beat back a new industry bill on personal care products that would actually make things worse for women’s health.
“The Cosmetic Safety Amendments Act of 2012” was recently introduced in Congress and was written by the Personal Care Products Council, a trade association that represents the giant cosmetics companies.
This bill would actually put into law the industry’s current system of “regulating itself.” But remember formaldehyde in Brazilian Blowout? Lead in lipstick? Toxic chemicals in “non-toxic” nail polish, or cancer-causing chemicals in Johnson’s baby shampoo?
Those are examples of the industry “regulating itself,” and we know we can do MUCH better than that.
For the first time in 30 years, Congress is listening when it comes to cosmetics safety. Raise your voice today to tell them you want real reform that actually gets toxic chemicals out of the products we put on our bodies:
• Eliminate the worst chemicals, like the ones linked to cancer and reproductive harm
• Require that companies be transparent about what they’re putting into products
• Ingredients must be safe for vulnerable populations, like pregnant women, babies, and salon workers
Take action now!
