The Great Futures Pledge for Colorado’s Students

now more than ever, our kids need us to invest in their future – and that starts with a great education. As parents, educators, employers and citizens we know that inaction is no longer an option. It’s time for us to reform, renew, and adequately resource Colorado’s public schools and colleges.

We believe:

  • A strong system of public education, from preschool through college, is the bedrock of our democracy and the key to economic prosperity.
  • Every child in Colorado must have access to a quality 21st century public education that meets his or her individual needs.
  • Colorado is not funding its education system well or wisely enough to provide the quality teaching, learning experiences, and educational opportunities each student needs — or to make effective, efficient, broad-based, and sustainable education reform possible.

We know:

  • Better investment in schools and colleges will require a vote of the people.
  • Our education funding crisis is a statewide problem that can’t be solved with district-by-district mill and bond elections, school-by-school fundraising, or college tuition increases alone.
  • It is our turn to create a better life and world for future generations, just as previous generations did for us. Our kids can’t wait any longer.
