Student Movement for Real Change (SMRC) currently works in South Africa and Kenya. We plan to grow our community networks in 2009 by adding two new communities that will host the Global Development Program. See below for detailed information on each community and our work there. Manyeleti, South Africa SMRC has worked in Manyeleti since 2003 when executive director, Saul Garlick fundraised $10,000 for a classroom at Mashlati Primary School. Kayafungo, Kenya Kayafungo community was introduced to SMRC by young leader and Fulbright scholar, Lily Muldoon in 2005. The Global Development Internship (GDI) aims to provide college students development experience, cultural immersion, and the necessary leadership skills to develop sustainable projects. The Global Development Fellowship (GDF) allows GDI alumni to maintain a project initiated during their internship and further develop the project. Projects are researched and developed during students' internship. Check out our current projects here. We currently work in South Africa and Kenya.
