Sign the petition to tax the top 1% in California and use that money to improve our local schools.
Over the past three years, California has cut 2 million dollars per day from our schools!
What Sacramento politicians don’t understand is that it takes a village to raise a child and a fully funded school to educate a student.
Sign the petition now; together we can create a brighter future for the children of this state.
The devastating budget cuts to education over the past several years have undermined the vitality of our public schools and deferred the dreams of our children. 2012 is the year to reverse this trend and restore the future of our state by investing in our schools and children.
I urge you, the California Legislature, and the voters of California to tax corporations and the wealthiest 1% of Californians to pay their fair share and generate significant new revenues to fully fund our schools.
I urge you to make sure that any new education funds generated in California first go directly to the students with greatest needs––low-income and English Learner students- and the schools they attend.
In the weeks to come students and parents will deliver your petitions in-person to Governor Jerry Brown and to the leadership of the California Legislature in Sacramento.
