Ban TortureA Bush Administration official has finally admited the U.S. has tortured prisoners. We need to put this morally reprehensible practice behind us as soon as possible: President-Elect Barack Obama should sign an executive order banning torture as one of his first acts in office. Our partners at the National Religious Campaign Against Torture (NRCAT) have put together a statement of principles to guide such a directive (scroll down to read it) and Faithful America is echoing their call to President-Elect Obama. Sign below to add your name to our letter to Obama:
President-Elect Obama,
We urge you to sign an executive order banning torture in all its forms as one of your first acts as President. People of faith have endorsed this set of principles to guide your effort to end U.S.-sponsored torture immediately. Please consider them as you act quickly to end this immoral and ineffective practice.
