Protect Fisher Bay forever

The Fisher Bay Park Reserve, on the west side of Lake Winnipeg, is a treasure house of boreal forest that includes lush mainland, spectacular islands, sandy beach shorelines, shoals and reefs, and the water of the bay. This is Fisher River Cree Nations traditional territory and home to moose, black bear, pelicans, eagles, and ducks.

Furthermore, the area's little-used beaches provide suitable grounds for the Piping Plover, a highly endangered shorebird, to lay its eggs. To conserve the environment and support a sustainable local tourism economy, Fisher River Cree Nation has requested establishment of a provincial park that secures the area from industrial activities such as logging and mining. Fisher River Cree Nation is proposing boundaries for the park based on ecological and cultural analysis.
