Keep the Restigouche Wild
CPAWS has identified 100,000 hectares in the Restigouche River watershed that are critical for maintaining this wild area’s health and the local ecotourism industry. We’re asking New Brunswick and Québec to permanently protect these wildest parts of Restigouche.
We’re also asking the provinces for better protection of riverbanks, steep slopes, headwater streams, and old forest habitats in the rest of the Restigouche – one of eastern Canada’s wildest remaining river valleys. This is a place where salmon, lynx, bears and eagles thrive – within a day’s drive for millions of North Americans.
The New Brunswick government needs to approve a new forest management plan by 2012. We have an opportunity right now to push for higher protected areas targets, so the wildest parts of Restigouche will be protected.
Show your support for keeping the Restigouche River watershed wild by signing this petition. CPAWS’ goal is to collect 10,500 names by December 15, 2011, when we will deliver the names to the Premier. We already have over 10,100 names, so please help us get to 10,500!
Please ensure the wildest areas in the Restigouche are protected forever.
