Ask your Senators to support $4 billion for high-speed rail

The Senate is scheduled to begin debate on the the FY2010 transportation appropriation bill (HR3288) at 2:00 pm today.

The House version of the bill has $4 billion for high speed rail, but the Senate Appropriations Committee only agreed to spend $1.2 billion.  The bill moves to the floor for debate today. (Note that the one-time stimulus funds of $8 billion are separate from the annual appropriation that we are asking Congress to fund in this action alert.)

Please contact your Senators.  Ask them to spend $4 billion on high speed rail next fiscal year and to fully fund Amtrak.  Tell them to reject the Senate Appropriations Committee figure of $1.2 billion in favor of the full House of Representative's figure.

Please call your Senator's office and send a follow up email.
