President Obama - Don't let them bring back torture!

The Senate Intelligence Committee is currently finishing a multi-year investigation into the torture of detainees. The results of this investigation could show that torture is not a useful interrogation technique and has made our nation more unsafe. Releasing the results of this investigation may also lead to safeguards being put in place to help prevent torture from occurring in the future.

Please email President Obama to ask him to push for the release of the results of this investigation.

Dear President Obama:

Thank you for putting a halt to the torture of detainees.  As someone whose faith tells me that torture is a grievous wrong, I believe that halting the torture of detainees will be an important part of your legacy as President.

Unfortunately, as you know, that part of your legacy is threatened by some who support torture.  This includes former Administration officials (like Dick Cheney) who continue to publicly declare that torture helped keep our country safe.  Others, like current New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte have introduced legislation that would allow secret inhumane interrogation techniques.

I believe that these threats to your legacy will continue until the American people learn the full truth about what was done in our name, and begin to reestablish the consensus against torture.

Further the results of this investigation may include suggestions for important safeguards to prevent torture from occurring in the future.

Please encourage Senators on the Senate Intelligence Committee to vote to adopt and release the report on their investigation.  Doing so may help safeguard your legacy and ensure that our country does not again torture.
