BREAKING NEWS: Two Chances for Info on State's Enviro Policies

Dear Scenic Hudson Member:

I'm sure that you, like most Scenic Hudson members, are concerned about how New York State can continue to support the environment and land protection in the face of the current budget crisis. So, I wanted to let you know about two upcoming opportunities to get more information:

PUBLIC RADIO INTERVIEW

On Thursday afternoon, Feb. 19, at 1. p.m. WAMC Northeast Public Radio is broadcasting a conversation that Scenic Hudson's Director of Public Policy Andy Bicking and I recorded yesterday with the station's dynamic leader, Dr. Alan Chartock. Our wide-ranging discussion covers the crucial role of state funding for land preservation, both as part of our collaborative campaign to Save the Land That Matters Most and as a driving force for balanced, "green" economic development in the region. We're pleased to have had this opportunity to communicate about these vital issues on WAMC, a respected voice on state issues and how they impact the valley. You can listen to the interview live over the air or via the Web. By Friday morning, you'll be able to listen to an online version of our conversation at your convenience. We'll post a link to the interview on scenichudson.org

COMMUNITY FORUM HOSTED BY ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE

On Monday evening, Feb. 23, in Newburgh (Orange County), the Office of Attorney General Andrew Cuomo will hold a Community Forum on "Priorities for Hudson River Protection." The forum will be hosted by Deputy Attorney General Kit Kennedy, one the NY State's leading experts on environmental policy. Scenic Hudson General Counsel Warren P. Reiss, our own expert in environmental law, will also be in attendance. This will be a great chance to learn about how the Attorney General's office is protecting the Hudson River, and you'll also have a opportunity to share your priorities for the Hudson and its surrounding landscapes. Details and directions are available on the calendar page of the Attorney General's Web site.
