Dear Scenic Hudson Member,

Reminder:

The second and potentially last opportunity for citizens like you to offer input to the Kingston planning board about Sailor's Cove is tonight -- Wednesday, Oct. 15 -- at 6 p.m. at City Hall. As we told you last week, Ohio-based developer Polaris wants to build this 365-unit development just north of Kingston Point Beach.

The Sailor's Cove proposal is clearly inconsistent with the city's existing character, containing many of the same negative impacts the public worked hard to alleviate with AVR's proposed Hudson Landing project. We're urging residents to show up and let Polaris and city officials know loud and clear that current plans are unacceptable. Scenic Hudson and other groups in the Friends of Kingston Waterfront (FoKW) coalition are calling for fewer units so that more of the waterfront can be open to residents and so that visual impacts and traffic impacts can be reduced. Further echoing the desire of residents, we're advocating that the development be redesigned to offer a traditional sense of place and neighborhood like that in Kingston's Uptown, Ponckhockie and Rondout neighborhoods.

Tonight's meeting is a powerful opportunity for you to positively influence this project, which would impact life in Kingston for generations. We hope to see you there.

Sincerely,

Ned Sullivan signature
