LAND PROTECTION UPDATE: Important Parcels Protected in Three Counties

82 acres along the Black Creek have recently been safeguarded as part of our campaign to Save the Land That Matters Most.

Scenic Hudson's campaign to Save the Land That Matters Most recently made three key acquisitions in Dutchess, Ulster and Columbia counties. The newly protected lands include 225 acres of farmland in Red Hook (Dutchess), 82 acres along Black Creek in Lloyd (Ulster) and 116 acres of forests, meadows and wetlands in Stockport (Columbia). Call for Volunteers
Scenic Hudson is delighted to be co-sponsoring the annual Hudson Highlands Greenway Triathlon scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 28. Race organizers are looking for additional volunteers to help monitor the 38-mile kayak/bike/run course. There's still room for some additional racers, too -- either as individuals or 3-person teams. CRUCIAL TIME FOR KINGSTON: Upcoming Public Hearings Will Shape the Future of a Large Section of Hudson River Waterfront

Two important hearings on waterfront development are coming up next week in Kingston (Ulster County). The first one, on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at City Hall, kicks off the debate on the impact of the proposed 365-unit Sailor's Cove development. The critical hearing is on Thursday, Sept. 11, at Kingston High School. That's when AVR is presenting the latest modifications to its massive proposed 1700-unit Hudson Landing development and providing one last chance for public review. Beacon Challenge: Shore to Summit
