Speak Up About Massive Development Proposed for Pine Plains

Dear Scenic Hudson Member:

Scenic Hudson is supplying the Pine Plains Planning Board with a scientific analysis of wildlife and ecological impacts from a proposed massive residential development - the Carvel Property Development being sought by the Durst Organization.

It's a big, big project

The latest census data indicates Pine Plains is home to 2,569 residents and 988 households -- and this proposed development alone if not scaled back would introduce 951 new residences.

The planning board is holding public comment meetings, and they must hear from concerned residents like you. Besides citing ecological effects from the huge proposed project, you may wish to speak up about other potential issues.

Dr. Michael Klemens, Scenic Hudson's director of conservation science and a renowned conservation biologist, will deliver testimony at tomorrow evening's planning board meeting.

Pine Plains United, a local citizens group, also will have experts testifying at these meetings about visual impacts and traffic impacts.

Public Comment Meeting Schedule

  • Friday, Feb. 29: 7 p.m., Stissing High School
  • Thursday, March 6: 7 p.m., Milan Town Hall
  • Wednesday, March 12: 7 p.m., Stissing High School

E-mail Comments also Important

E-mail your thoughts to the Pine Plains Planning Board or mail them to Town Hall, Box 955, Pine Plains, NY 12567.
