Scenic Hudson Helps Expand
Popular State Park


New areas surrounding Fishkill Ridge have been permanently protected for public enjoyment.

On Jan. 24, we joined with officials from NYS Parks and the City of Beacon in announcing the addition of 1,300 acres of protected land to the 6,000-acre Hudson Highands State Park. More than half of this land was protected with Scenic Hudson's assistance: 639 acres on the northern end of Fishkill Ridge and the 80-acre former University Settlement Camp within the Beacon city limits. New Studies:
Kingston Development Project Violates State and Local Policies

Two new studies of the Hudson Landing development proposed for the City of Kingston reveal that the project violates policies adopted by the city in its Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) and also is inconsistent with New York State Department of State coastal management guidelines.
