Dear Scenic Hudson Member: As you may have heard, Roseland and General Motors (GM) have terminated their development agreement for plans to build Lighthouse Landing. GM is now looking for a new developer for the 97-acre waterfront parcel. Shortly after GM closed its assembly plant, Scenic Hudson began working closely with Mayor Zegarelli, village officials, residents and other stakeholders to define a vision for the redevelopment of the site. Working together we were able to make many improvements to the developer's original plan including:
We are hopeful that any new developer will recognize the enormous potential of both the site and the community's vision. We look forward to working with them and the village until everyone in the community can enjoy:
Here at Scenic Hudson, we remain deeply committed to your Hudson River waterfront. In addition to closely monitoring the situation with GM, we have directed $6 million in Scenic Hudson and philanthropic support toward restoring Kingsland Point Park and its historic bathhouse, establishing a new pedestrian bridge over the train tracks and creating a public waterfront park at the site of the former asphalt plant in Tarrytown. We also have supported both villages in securing millions in state and county funds for various planning and park projects.
Sincerely,
Ned Sullivan |
