Dear Scenic Hudson Member, Last night the City of Yonkers unveiled its proposed master plan for the Alexander Street portion of the waterfront. It calls for 18 apartment towers ranging from 12 to 30 stories high and insufficient areas of open space. Several Aspects of this Plan Raise Serious Concerns
There is lots more to digest in the plan. As soon as we've had a chance to examine it in detail, we'll provide a complete analysis, including a careful look at the economics. The master plan provides the city with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to turn its industrial waterfront into a thoughtful mix of residential, commercial and recreational uses. We encourage city officials to offer sufficient time and opportunities for public input -- and to listen to citizens' concerns for their waterfront. As soon as the city schedules public hearings, we'll let you know. Your voice will be important for getting this right. For more information, see Scenic Hudson's statement about the Alexander Street Master Plan as well as this article in the Journal-News.
Sincerely,
Ned Sullivan |
