Dear Scenic Hudson Member,

I am writing to urge you to attend two upcoming public hearings for the draft Beacon Comprehensive Plan. These are your only opportunities to learn about this vision for the city's future, as well as to ask questions and voice your concerns.

WHAT: Public Hearings on Beacon's Comprehensive Plan
WHEN: Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m.
WHERE: Memorial Building, 413 Main St. (corner of Teller and Main), Beacon

Among the forward-thinking issues the Comprehensive Plan addresses are:

  • Preserving significant landscapes and creating open-space corridors along Fishkill Creek and the Hudson River.
  • Encouraging commercial development around the Hudson waterfront and Metro-North station, as well as promoting the environmental cleanup and redevelopment of unused industrial sites along Fishkill Creek.
  • Encouraging housing development at greater densities within and adjacent to the central business district, creating a more cohesive community.

Scenic Hudson has been a partner in drafting this plan for the last year and a half. It will have an enormous impact on the city's efforts to achieve smart growth -- so please let your voice be heard.
