Are you ready to RAMBLE?


   
The Sept. 15 Beacon Challenge will take hikers from the Hudson River waterfront to the lofty summit of Mount Beacon.

Join Scenic Hudson for five fun events that are part of the annual Hudson River Valley Ramble. Between now and Sept. 30, there will be over 160 exciting ways to get outside and enjoy our beautiful valley, including hikes, bikes, walks, historic site tours, festivals, paddles and river explorations.

The Hudson River Valley Ramble is an annual celebration sponsored by the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area and Hudson River Valley Greenway in partnership with the Hudson River Estuary Program of NYSDEC. Beacon Challenge: Shore to Summit
Date:
Sept. 15, 9 a.m.
Location:
Long Dock Park, Beacon

A bold and ambitious trek through three Scenic Hudson parks: Long Dock on the Hudson's shore, Madam Brett Park on Fishkill Creek and Mount Beacon at the top of Fishkill Ridge.

Walk through History
Date:
Sept. 16, 11 a.m.
Location:
West Point Foundry Preserve, Cold Spring

Guided hike through the ruins of the vast ironworks that existed at the site during much of the 19th century. Hear about the far-reaching effects the foundry had on American history and industrialism as you walk the paths trod by the foundry workers. RSVP ››

Swamp Things Paddle

Sept. 23, 10 a.m.
Location:
RamsHorn-Livingston Sanctuary, Catskill

Discover creatures great and small from bald eagles and great blue herons to sparrows and warblers, beaver, otter and muskrat as you paddle by kayak or canoe through a prehistoric-looking landscape in the largest tidal swamp in the Hudson River estuary. RSVP ››

GoZero Kayak Race
Date:
Sept. 23, 12 p.m.
Location:
Long Dock Park, Beacon

Low impact, zero emissions, 9-mile kayak race from Beacon Harbor to Bannerman’s Island and back. Racers must provide own boat; PFD, skirt required; bring water. RSVP ››

Poetry in Paradise

Sept. 29, 4:30 p.m.
Location:
Poets' Walk Park

Find poetic inspiration as you amble the paths that wind through the sunlit meadows and quiet woodlands at Poets’ Walk. Then gather at the gazebo to enjoy refreshments and listen to poets read their works while watching the sun set behind the river and Catskill Mountains. RSVP ››
