The Child Safe Playing Fields Act Needs You!

The New Jersey Environment Federation has been mobilizing support for The Child Safe Playing Fields Act (S2610) to protect kids from toxic pesticides where they play.

In June we were successful in ensuring this legislation pass out of the Senate Budget Committee! Despite unanimous bipartisan support, it has yet to be posted for a full Senate and Assembly floor vote.

It’s critical that we get S2610 passed—landmark legislation that will protect kids’ health from toxic pesticides by prohibiting toxic lawn pesticides on ball fields and playgrounds at all daycares, schools, and parks in New Jersey.

Sustainable non-toxic landscape methods cost less over time, are effective, and are healthier for both the landscape and our children. Scientific studies show that children are more exposed and vulnerable to the hazards of pesticides than adults.

Take Action!

In order to get it posted in the Senate and Assembly, please contact Senate President Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver and your legislators today! Ask that they post the vote in the fall and support the bill.
