Let Your Senator Know Chemical Policy Reform is Underway
The Senate has the oppportunity to reform the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), our 35-year-old broken national chemical policy. Our Christian faith calls us to treat our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19), steward God's Creation, and give special protection to the "least of these" who are most vulnerable (Matthew 25). Unfortunately, TSCA has not sufficiently protected human bodies, God's Creation, or “the least of these.” In fact, only 200 of the 84,000 chemicals in commerce have been fully tested for safety. Some common chemicals used in everyday products have been linked to cancer, diabetes, asthma, learning disabilities, and Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. The need for reform is urgent. Each year our national chemical policy fails us, more unsafe chemicals get into the marketplace, sickening more people and polluting God's Creation.
Please take a moment to email your Senators to ask them to make chemical policy reform a priority this year.
