Turn up the pressure on the L.A. County D.A. and City Attorney!

On Thursday, October 8th, Los Angeles County District Attorney Steven Cooley told reporters that “about 100%” of the medical cannabis dispensing collectives in Los Angeles County are illegal.  

He said he intends to close every one of them.

The D.A. made these outrageous comments after a training luncheon hosted by the California Narcotics Officers Association (CNOA).  The CNOA luncheon focused on training police officers and prosecutors to “eradicate” medical cannabis facilities.  L.A. City Attorney Carmen Trutanich was at the luncheon as well.

To Los Angeles County District Attorney Steven Cooley and Los Angeles City Attorney Carmen Trutanich: We, the undersigned, urge you to drop your plans to shut down all medical marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles County. Instead of making life harder for medical patients with legitimate needs, you should support sensible regulations for medical cannabis dispensing collectives. The California state legislature, State Attorney General Jerry Brown, and case law all say patients may legally purchase their medicine through medical cannabis collectives. Patients depend on dispensing collectives for safe access to medicine!
